THE WELSH BROADCASTING TRUST'S £66,800 BOOST FOR YOUTH PROJECTS The Welsh Broadcasting Trust has announced the three projects which will benefit from total funding of over £66K towards the development of educational activities relating to television, film, radio and new media. The three are FILM15 Productions of Llanbrynmair, Powys and national projects 'It's My Shout', based at ITV Wales and The Wales Wide Film Education Partnership, run by the Film Agency for Wales.

FILM15's project 'Bollywood High' is an opportunity for young people from the Llanbrynmair area to explore the film-making process by producing a short film that explores Bollywood themes but adapts them into a local story. The project came about when FILM15 approached famous Bollywood film star Mayur Raj Verma and writer/director Sneh Lata Verma, who moved to the area in September last year, to see how local youths could benefit from their vast experience of making successful Bollywood films.

Project Director Emma Macey-Storch said, "What we're trying to do is quite different and unusual, so people didn't quite believe that bringing Bollywood to Mid Wales was possible at first! But the support from the Welsh Broadcasting Trust gives us the vote of confidence we need to make this happen."
"With Bollywood, you've got the high production values and therefore the potential to build a training opportunity around the project, be that in acting, singing or behind the camera. As well as offering young people the chance to try out different aspects of film-making and mix with professionals, the whole project also sends out that message that if you've got a good idea you should just go for it."
