CALL FOR NEW TRUSTEES
2011
Introduction
Ymddiried is a registered
charity, established to promote and support educational activities in relation
to television, film, radio and digital services.
Its aims are :
Expand and enrich the range
of skills and experience of media professionals
Establish new development
partnerships with training providers and other agencies to provide
opportunities to educate,innovate and develop the industry to the future
Supporting individuals
To date, many individuals
have received grants ranging from £200 to £6000 allowing them to attend
specific vocational courses, training schemes, international conferences and
festivals which have enriched and expanded their educational and professional
experience. These grants are awarded twice a year.
In 2010, the Ymddiried
Scholarship was established and the first recipient is Rhodri Llŷr ap Dyfrig
who was awarded £25,000 for his work in developing bilingual digital media
services.
The aim is to offer this
substantial scholarship every two years.
Development Partnerships
In 2009, £80,000 of grants
was awarded to various groups in order to increase the opportunities for people
across Wales to engage with media culture and enable access to the media of the
future.
This year, educational
projects led by Chapter [Young Persons’ Film Academy] and Media Education Wales
[Film Club Wales Training] were each awarded £10,000.
We hope to be able to offer
grants at this level every two years.

We’re very keen to welcome
new trustees to get involved in awarding grants to individuals and partnership
funding to educational and cultural agencies. We’re looking for enthusiastic
and committed individuals, especially if they have experience in digital
technology, training and professional development in the media; media education
and business development.
The Trustees meet twice a
year; also occasionally they will be required to attend a sub-committee
meeting. The work is unpaid; meetings are usually held in Cardiff and travel
expenses will be offered to those trustees travelling from outside
Cardiff.
